The Secret Miracle is a short story by Jorge L. Borges, set in Prague during World War II. A Jewish playwright named Jaromir Hladik is arrested by Nazi forces and sentenced to die by firing squad. The reader experiences Hladik's journey in his final days of captivity.
The concept was to portray the short as a factual event in a documentary style book, including realistic artifacts and imagery pertaining to the events in the story.
95% of the book contents was created from scratch and is the culmination of hundreds of hours of concepting, art direction, production, design, layout, typesetting, photography, photo editing, copywriting, and hand crafting to achieve the final piece.
